Hi, I’m Masha, and this is a blog about me and my Kitchen.
My kitchen and I are both currently reside in the wonderful city of Hamburg in Germany, where I’ve recently moved to join my husband Patrick.
I was on the road for quite some time: have lived in Russia, the USA, the Netherlands and even for a while in Australia; have shared kitchens and cooked together with people from Asia, Latin America and all the corners of Europe. My cooking is, thus, inspired by all the places I’ve been to, by all the great people I’ve met and by each single bite and sip (or two) I’ve made.
I cook simple, healthy and eye-pleasing dishes. I love vegetables and fruits, good olive oil, fresh and sustainable fish and sea-food, nuts and all sorts of cheese. But If I had to pick three food items to eat for the rest of my life, these definitely would be cheese, grapes and wine. I think they represent my ultimate happiness formula!
I don’t follow any certain “….-free” streams. I’m all in for both diversity and moderation in food. In no way I am against paleo, gluten-free, vegan or any other healthy lifestyles. I agree with many ideas in their foundations and I also cook a lot of paleo or gluten-free dishes. I just think that everyone has to find its own way to start listening to his/her body. I found my balance when I stopped going into extremes (such as NO grains, NO sugar or NO eating after 6 pm) and started doing what is good for me (for both my body and my mind). That is why, I do yoga every morning, love running and doing Pilates and still when I feel that a muffin is going to make me happy – I always go for it 🙂
Why Masha’s Kitchen?
I really believe that kitchen is a heart of the house, and it is definitely my favorite part of it, especially now when I have my first ever own kitchen (probably Patrick does not mind me monopolizing it either)
It might be that I inherited this love for kitchen from Russia. In Russia kitchen is the place where things are happening: where families get together, where the most private stories are being shared, where people laugh and cry, quarrel and reconcile. And, of course, it is a place, where the food is getting prepared, and enjoyed, in good and bad.
Therefore, my Kitchen is not just a place where I cook, it’s the place where I feel myself extremely happy, where I dream and create. And I’m very happy to have you in my kitchen!
